Enjoy the many physical and emotional benefits of guided relaxation with the Rest and Restore app. Rest and Restore was developed by Dr. Tanie Kabala, a clinical psychologist with over ten years of experience using relaxation exercises to help her patients relieve stress, sleep better, reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, and achieve a greater overall sense of well-being.

Rest and Restore offers an introduction, in which Dr. Kabala describes the benefits of regular conscious relaxation, and three diverse guided relaxation exercises of varying lengths. First, there is a progressive muscle relaxation exercise, one in which the listener slowly tenses and releases the muscles of the body, a practice that brings deep relaxation to both body and mind. Next, Rest and Restore offers a guided imagery exercise that takes listeners on a deeply relaxing journey to the beach. Rest and Restore concludes with a five-minute restoration exercise, a calming and rejuvenating exercise that is perfect when relaxation is needed but time is short.

The exercises are perfect for both beginners (who might enjoy the instructions offered) and individuals with guided relaxation experience.

The volumes of both the voice and background music are controlled completely by you, the user: choose your perfect blend of voice and background music, choose no music at all, or choose to simply relax to the calming sounds of musician Matt Magarahan’s soothing background music.

** Rest and Restore includes a feature that allows you to play your own music in the background - choose your favorite music to enhance your relaxation experience.

Additionally, you can choose to continue the background music for ten minutes after the completion of each exercise, thus adding to the relaxation experience.

Here’s what users are saying about Rest and Restore:

"This app is like getting free therapy. It is so relaxing, especially the muscle relaxation exercise that put me to sleep when I woke with insomnia. The relaxation exercises are really helping me slow down, relax, and be in the moment with my kids. Bonus is that it puts my one year old to sleep!"

"I used the beach relaxation exercise one night when I couldnt sleep. I doubted that I would fall back to sleep since I had so much on my mind, but I did! Dr. Kabala’s voice is calm and soothing. Her comments stay with me and I find myself wanting to practice the deep breathing and visualization throughout my week."

"I have used a couple of the relaxation exercises with my psychotherapy clients in session and received very positive feedback."

"Great for chilling out! Totally love the voice!"
